The Knight Lord
The story of the knights is one of the most polarising in Mersidia.
After the tragedy of Terlé, Mersidia faced the possibility of total war with certain death as the only outcome. It was avoided. Reymis used the event to drive a wedge between the land and its guardian. The role of the knights was changed; the new decree was for the knights to become Knight Lords. No longer servants to the people, each acting under his own authority first and foremost, but now as pawns to the king.
The new knights were chosen for their useful influence and allegiance to Reymis, they were given a shortcut having never proving themselves through training or having fought a battle. The stooges were rewarded with regions he would rule over, with mayors and councillors handling the politics at his sides. The name, status, riches and favours kept primarily for himself. But their story is not over. Not all true knights are gone. These imposters will be thrusted into the front lines to prove their worth. The inadequacies haunt them, defeat, although inevitable, is not acceptable. The eyes of the land are watching them.
