The Knights
The knights of the old guard were the creation of the king's father, Mattheaus. In a last desperate attempt to remind his people that he still existed and had value as they were becoming fascinated in awe with Warlock, he had the idea of a new kind of soldier.
The Knight.
This soldier would extend authority of the king. He would be a highly trained warrior, noble, humble, honest, a protector, a man of the people of many skills and roles using his own discernment to guide the people.
Warlock smiled and told him that such men existed on other worlds. Sometimes they were called Knights. After Terlé, and a long painful wait, Reymis disbanded the order and bastardised the idea his father had dreamt of.
His last proclamation for those who would not kneel and take their new role of Knight Lord, was a suicidal quest. It was believed they perished; hence, they became forgotten.
But Mersidia will be redeemed by those it forgot.
